The Moon
In this technical sci-fi puzzle, Gimpville designed a scientifically accurate lunar surface, terrifying meteor impacts, and digital characters stranded 384,000 km from Earth.

The Korean sci-fi blockbuster The Moon, is set in 2030, where an accident in outer space results in an austronaut being stranded alone on the moon. Gimpville crafted a high-energy sequence where a violent meteor shower tears into a spacecraft. The team developed complex simulations of debris impact, exploding hull fragments, and zero-gravity particle behavior—enhancing the sense of chaos as the astronaut’s mission spirals out of control.
Their most pivotal contribution lies in the movie’s signature scene: the catastrophic collision between a massive asteroid, a swarm of meteors, and the lunar surface. Gimpville created sweeping shockwaves, large-scale crater formation, and towering plumes of dust, rock and fire that engulf the astronaut. Every element is crafted to heighten the tension, as the astronaut struggles with the physical and emotional weight of his fight for survival.
